Securing the Future.

The Mission of the Council Foundation is to energize the insurance industry by impacting the future of the brokerage community.

The Council Foundation

The Council Foundation was first organized as The Foundation of Agency & Management Excellence (FAME). In 2016, FAME was renamed to The Council Foundation. Today, The Council Foundation’s focus is to recruit and attract the next generation of diverse talent to the commercial insurance brokerage industry. Primarily we are doing this through our annual scholarship program, which provides $5,000 scholarships to students interning in member firms. The Council Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions are tax-deductible and will support the mission and educational initiatives of the Foundation.  Individuals, corporations and foundations are encouraged to contribute.

Scholarships

As the insurance industry and workforce continue to evolve, talent recruitment, development and retention are becoming increasingly important. Internships are a vital tool in insurance industry recruitment as 3 young insurance professionals must be hired for every currently employed insurance professional to cover the pending talent gap but only 4% of millennials are interested in working in the industry. The mission of The Council Foundation, the 501(c)3 educational charitable arm of The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers, is to bring fresh, diverse talent into the brokerage sector by way of internships with Council member firms. Through internship resources and scholarships, The Council Foundation helps to create impactful internship programs that lead to viable new hires.

Eligibility to participate in the scholarship program is a donation to The Council Foundation. Member firms have the opportunity to fulfill this requirement during their annual dues renewal – as well as prior to the launch of the scholarship program. If you have questions or want to inquire about your firm’s eligibility status, contact William Turner.

Since 2017, The Council Foundation Scholarship program has awarded more than $3.2 million to 648 interns, including seven named scholarships:

Are you a student interested in interning? We’d love to have you. Our member firms are located all over the globe.

Internships

Studies show that internships are the insurance brokerage industry’s most successful tool in the recruitment of college students. In light of that, part of The Council Foundation’s mission is to bring fresh, diverse talent into the brokerage sector by way of internships with Council member firms that are located all over the globe. The best interns have an opportunity to be selected for a $5,000 scholarship.
