COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.– October 7, 2015 – Bill Henry, chief executive officer and chairman of Dallas, Texas-based MHBT, a Marsh & McLennan Agency LLC company, was elected as the 2016 chairman of The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers, as announced today by The Council. He succeeds Steve Brockmeyer, president and chief executive officer of Bolton & Company in Pasadena, Calif.
Henry was elected during The Council’s 102nd annual Insurance Leadership Forum (ILF). The Insurance Leadership Forum has been instrumental to the commercial property/casualty insurance industry since its beginnings in 1913, and continues to be the pivotal place for market leaders worldwide to convene.
Henry began his career in the insurance industry in 1972, selling and servicing Fortune 1000 accounts for the Texas Employers’ Insurance Association. He became manager of national accounts in 1979 and remained in that position until 1983, when McQueary & Henry, Inc. was formed. Henry became president in 1987. In October 1996, Henry assumed the role of Chairman & CEO of McQueary Henry Bowles Troy, LLP. In 2011, he was named Dallas Morning News’ Top CEO for mid-sized companies.
A graduate of Texas Tech, Henry has served on numerous boards and insurance advisory councils both locally and nationally. He is the founding chairman of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation of Texas/Southeast and sits on the Advisory Committee Rawls School of Business Texas Tech University.
As Chairman of The Council, Henry leads a team of officers including Vice Chairman Robert Cohen, chairman & CEO, IMA Financial Group, Denver, Colo.; Treasurer David Eslick, chairman and chief executive officer, Marsh & McLennan Agency, New York; and Secretary Martin P. Hughes, Hub International, Chicago, Illinois.
