The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) recently released a “Cybersecurity Bill of Rights” outlining the rights insurance companies ought to provide for their consumers.
The document was produced by the recently formed Cybersecurity Task Force and advocates rights, ranging from mandated notifications regarding stored consumer data to ensuring identity theft protection after a breach occurs.
At an event co-sponsored by the NAIC and the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Adam Hamm, NAIC chairman, outlined the goals and overall mission of the task force. The task force will continue to pursue initiatives aimed at evaluating the impact cybersecurity on the insurance marketplace.
