THE COUNCIL OF INSURANCE AGENTS & BROKERS AND THE INSTITUTES COLLABORATE TO OFFER
PROFESSIONAL RISK CONSULTANT (PRC®) DESIGNATION

Designation demonstrates foundational knowledge of property/casualty insurance coverages and risk management

The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (The Council) and The Institutes Agent & Broker Group today announced a collaboration to offer the Professional Risk Consultant (PRC®) designation, which provides early-career insurance brokerage talent with the foundational knowledge and skills they need to excel in their field. This strategic partnership brings together The Council’s 100+ years of experience serving the insurance brokerage community with The Institutes’ established track record of educating professionals in risk management and insurance. The PRC designation is geared toward customer-facing talent with less than two years of experience in the industry. It will be offered through The Council’s talent development arm, The Council Academy, and through The Institutes Agent & Broker Group.

“We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the PRC designation, and to expand on our long-standing, successful partnership with The Institutes,” said Council President/CEO Joel Wood. “Within the insurance industry, The Council has a reputation for excellence and a breadth of knowledge in brokerage operations. The Institutes’ name carries the same weight in regard to ongoing education and professional development. This partnership will allow both of our organizations to fully leverage our networks and capabilities, and extend our reach to train and retain the next generation of insurance professionals.”

“We are combining The Council’s deep expertise and relationships within the brokerage community with The Institutes’ established track record of educating, elevating, and connecting professionals in risk management and insurance,” said Peter Miller, CPCU, President and CEO of The Institutes. “This collaboration allows us to provide a streamlined, impactful designation program that supports the development of early-career professionals.”

The PRC designation demonstrates foundational knowledge of property/casualty insurance coverages, risk management skills and an overall understanding of the industry. Earning the designation requires completion of course curriculum that is offered in two ways: a hybrid learning experience through The Council’s Insurance Professional School for Property/Casualty, or on-demand programming through The Institutes Agent & Broker Group.

For companies interested in bringing this programming in-house, there is also a company-sponsored live cohort option. Learn more.
